How Vistafix™ can change your life
Let us introduce just a few of the many people who are wearing Vistafix™ today. These case studies from just some of our Vistafix users show the difference that the system can make to peoples’ everyday lives. Our thanks to all those who have offered their story for viewing.
Emanuel
Emanuel is missing one of his ears since a car accident that happened back in 1968. Originally he wore an acrylic ear that was held in place with glue, but on finding out about replacement silicone ears from a clinic in Belgium, he also heard about the possibility of having an implant retained prosthetic ear instead. Emanuel decided on the implant retained ear straightaway as he had experienced many problems with the glue-on ear which had affected many aspects of his life.
The implants were placed and finally his new ear was made. “It is difficult to explain how happy this has made me. My partner’s son didn’t even realise I had a prosthetic ear until I was due to go to the anaplastologist to get a new one made. It’s part of me and I cannot say how happy I am. Now I can take part in everyday life just as I did before the accident”.
Paula
Paula’s orbit was removed nine years ago during tumour surgery and she was simply given a patch to wear and told that “the Doctors can’t help you anymore.” After talking to other people in the same situation she decided that she didn’t like the idea of a glue-on prosthesis and Paula was determined that she could find something better.
Once she discovered that a prosthetic eye could be made and held in place with implants she decided that this was what she wanted although she was a little unsure of what to expect. Five implants were placed in the bone around her eye and when the prosthesis was made and fitted Paula was so pleased because it looked great and was so comfortable. The implant retained prosthesis has enabled her to carry on with her life and Paula remarks, “I forget it is there and now I can go out and do anything I want”.
Paul
Paul lost part of his right ear two years ago following a skin biopsy, and six months later the remainder of the ear was removed as the tumour had spread. When he went to see his doctor he was told about an ear that you could “click on”! Paul felt slightly anxious before the surgery because he wasn’t sure what to expect, but nevertheless he felt confident in the team who were treating him.
Once the prosthetic ear was fitted even his hairdresser complimented him on it and his friends at work thought it looked better than his ‘own’ ear! Paul comments, “My prosthetic ear is very easy to look after and is as natural as you can imagine for something that is not actually made from my own skin”.
